Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) May 04, 2013
Las Vegas residents Tzahi and Julia Salomon filed a lawsuit Friday* against Firefly, the Las Vegas restaurant the Southern Nevada Health District identified as the source of an 86-person Salmonella outbreak in late April. The Salomons are represented by Seattle-based Marler Clark, the nations leading law firm representing victims of foodborne illness, and Las Vegas-based attorney Craig Murphy of Murphy & Murphy Law Offices.
According to the lawsuit, the Salomons ate at Firefly restaurant on April 23. They shared tapas with friends and Tzahis brother, who was visiting from Israel. Both husband and wife allege that they fell ill with Salmonella infections the day after eating food at the restaurant. The complaint states that Tzahis symptoms were so severe that he was treated at the Emergency Room, where he submitted a stool sample that tested positive for Salmonella.
The Salomons and other people who ate at Firefly did so with the assumption that the food they were eating was safe, said Bill Marler, managing partner of Marler Clark, who noted that the health department had issued 44 demerits for Firefly and 47 demerits for its sister restaurant, Dragonfly on Paradise, during an environmental inspection prompted by the Salmonella outbreak.
With the number of food safety violations cited by the health department, its no surprise so many customers became sick, Marler added.
BACKGROUND: Marler Clark has represented thousands of victims of Salmonella outbreaks in lawsuits against food manufacturers and restaurants. The firm is the only law firm in the nation that focuses exclusively on plaintiff foodborne illness litigation.
